When Art Talks About What Disappears
In Marseille, a new exhibition explores something that sounds almost mythical: a volcanic island that appeared, caused excitement — and vanished again.
At the MuCEM, artists use this forgotten island as a metaphor for much larger questions: migration, borders, belonging, memory. What remains when something is gone? And what stories do we keep telling ourselves about place and identity?
It’s art that doesn’t shout.
It lingers.
Much like the island itself.
