A Man Used the Same Set of Lottery Numbers for Nearly 10 Years — and Won
A man from Lexington, Kentucky, has been playing the Lucky For Life lottery with the same numbers for more than nine years — and has finally hit a prize of $25,000 per year. This was reported by the Lexington Herald-Leader.
Glenn, as the newspaper identifies him, filled out his ticket with the numbers 7, 10, 17, 24, and 26 — all of which matched the winning combination. The numbers held special meaning for him: they marked anniversaries and jersey numbers of his favourite Major League Baseball players.
The man has been participating in the lottery since its launch in March 2015. He admits that he believed in his luck and patiently waited for the moment when his chosen numbers would bring him a long-awaited win. However, to claim the top prize, players must also match the Lucky Ball number. The winning Lucky Ball was 13, while Glenn had chosen 12.
Glenn recently visited the lottery office to officially claim his prize. He is guaranteed annual payments of $25,000 for at least 20 years. He said he plans to use the money to pay off debts and renovate his home.
According to lottery officials, the odds of winning the top Lucky For Life prize are 1 in 30.8 million. The chances of winning $25,000 per year are 1 in 1.81 million, while the minimum prize of four dollars is won in approximately one out of every 32 tickets.
